To the hall

The Places

I'm driving across America to visit the Baseball Hall of Fame. Keep up with the current progress across America. I'm estimating it at just over 4,200 miles through (at least) 10 states over the course of a week and a half with stops at 8 stadiums.

The plan

In short, I'm driving from Austin, Tx to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, Ny and back, stopping at as many Major League ballparks as possible along the way.

I'll be visiting 8 stadiums, including multiple stops in Arlington and Detroit, and seeing 16 different teams.

Baseball Mecca. The goal and furthest point of the voyage. I visited once before and it was awesome, I've wanted to see it again ever since.

I'll be spending the Fourth of July at a Tigers game & visiting friends in Detroit.

The Car

For the journey, I'll be driving my 2011 Dodge Challenger. It's the base, SE model (that's right ladies, base model).

Luckily, it gets decent milage¹ and has a big-ass trunk².

Don't worry, I have GPS, a bunch of maps, a radar detector and, I'm even considering a dash-cam.

For entertainment, my stereo supports Sirius, bluetoot³ and I have more music and podcasts on my iPhone than could be considered normal, so I think I'm covered there.

I'm Andrew Gaken. I'm a web developer and designer who lives in Austin.

I grew up a Detroit Tigers fan and I've loved baseball forever. I've also been known to drive cross-country from time to time. Sometime ask me about the time I moved from Michigan to Texas, or the time I moved from Texas to Seattle... and then back to Texas. I couldn't think of a better way to spend a week than driving across the United States and watching a lot of baseball.
